A total miss for me, I was completely nonplussed.

I hadn't even realised 12 years had passed when he was rescued, I thought the film still had a ways to go.

I wasn't compelled by the main character at all.

I was radically unmoved by his individual plight, in comparison to the general trend of the time.

I found none of the characters particularly compelling, in fact.

It was like boring and had too many excessively long pauses for dramatic effect like LOOK OVER HERE LOOK HOW THIS THING IN THE BACKGRUOND CONRASTS WITH THE FOREGROUND LOOK AGAIN KEEP LOOKING SOAK IT IN

The score was alright, but endlessly repetitive, and I was convinced it was the same guy from Sarah's Key

But in the end I really can't figure out for sure why I was so unmoved, when others are raving about it.
