I guess I queued it up because it was a Studio Ghibli film I hadn't seen, and Hayao Miyazaki was screenwriter if not director (similarly to Arrietty).
After having had it on my todo list for several months I got around to watching in in March 2014. It was slightly boring, but reminded me quite a bit of live action films I'd seen in the past - the story could well have been used to make a film in the same sort of vein as Dead Poets Society and other 1980s simple everyday feel-good movies.
