Alan Guth.

I was wondering about entropy and the law that states it must increase over time, and therefore that all the energy in the Universe is passing from low to high entropy and only temporarily and locally being caught up in stars and planets and all things useful. I wanted to know how it was that the Universe ever inherited the low state of entropy it started with, I thought it must be that the Universe itself is only a temporary and local hiccup in a much grander decay of entropy across many universes and whatever it is they all live in. But of course that only pushes back the problem....so I searched the internet and started reading about the Big Bang and inflation, which we all know is terribly complicated and quite clever at weedling out of these sorts of problems, and this book came up. I think I should read it.
